Fun Ideas for Staying Active

Staying Active everyday is very important to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. I have compiled some ideas to keep things fresh and interesting while staying active, most of which are free (Yaay!!!)
HOPSCOTCH- I know you all remember that game from elementary school. Most parks have one already painted on the concrete if you don’t have access to sidewalk chalk.
HILLS- Find a giant hill and walk up it, run if you’re feeling frisky.. (Many times even) A great friend once told me, “A hill is simply a mound of opportunity”

SKIPPING- Nothing says childhood fun like skipping. Don’t feel silly..it’s literally walking happy!!
CURB BALANCE- Find a curb and challenge someone to walk the whole thing with you without falling off (It’s harder than it sounds)
DANCE PARTY- Nobody can resist a good dance party. Turn on some tunes and get movin. Invite friends or don’t..either way you get to be active while listening to some sick beats.
WEEDING/GARDENING- You’d be surprised how much of a workout this can be. If you don’t have a garden, maybe suggest to an elderly neighbor or relative that you could take over that job for them. (Win-Win..you get exercise while helping someone out)
PARK PLAY- Find a cool park near your house, ride the slides, swing, check out the monkey bars. Do some pushups on a park bench or challenge someone to a race through the grass. If running isn’t your jam..how about a speed walking race..that sounds cool!
FRISBEE OR TENNIS BALL TOSS- Make up your own rules..Find a grassy spot and just have fun with it.
TRAIL BLAZING- Most places have a walking/running/biking trail nearby. Throw in some earbuds and go for a stroll...or better yet, invite someone to go with you. (PLEASE be safe if you go alone, always stay aware of your surroundings)
Play I spy while walking or do that skipping thing we talked about before.
PICNIC- Pick a spot close enough that you can walk to (not too close) and bring along a meal to have outside. Getting to be outside while doing an everyday task, somehow makes it better.
STAIRS- Find a flight of stairs..a stadium, a hiking trail, the stairs at work and climb baby. Go to the top and back!!
FIND FUN OUTSIDE OR IN, DO THINGS YOU DID WHEN YOU WERE A KID. IF YOU HAVE KIDS, KICK THEM OFF THE SCREEN AND CHALLENGE THEM TO DO THESE THINGS WITH YOU. LIFE IS AS FUN AND MOVES AS MUCH AS YOU MOVE IT!!
